Aloe Vera Native to N. Africa, in the early 1600's was brought to the New World by Spanish missionaries. This plantthrives in dry climates and is grown commercially in southern United States and New Mexico. Historically used for the treatment of minor burns, it is also thought to be an anti-irritant, and provides wonderful moisturization and refreshing feel to the skin. In comparison to water, and as part of the formula’s base, it has itself many minerals and vitamins in the natural form which helps the skin absorb other key ingredients. As a natural extract, there are key components to this fabulous plant which are:
Grape Seed Extract Is an oil extracted from pressing the seeds of various varieties of grapes, an abundant product of wine making. The location of the best grape seed oils then by no surprise are found in Italy, France, Spain and also Switzerland. My personal preference due to the consistent high yield and quality is that found in the Tuscany region in Italy. I also like drinking the wine. It's all in the name of research. Grape seed oil contains very potent anti-oxidants which are helpful for diminishing the sun's damaging effects and lessening free-radical damage – diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. As an ingredient for this type of product, it is also lightweight and does not give an oily feel to the skin. Witch Hazel Extract Is derived from the shrub also known as the Spotted Alder. Most commonly found in Easter US and Canada. Historically has been used topically for the treatment of burns, bruises and scalds in general to reduce inflammation and has soothing properties on the skin. Rosemary Plant 'Rosmarinus Officinalis' Rosemary is native to the Mediterranean, but is now grown all over the world. Traditionally used as a spice in foods, the oil of the leaf in this product has been used for its fantastic antioxidant properties. Vitamin E 'Tocopheryl Acetate' With proven antioxidant benefits, Vitamin E helps in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles on a small scale, to stretch marks on a larger scale. Bilberry Extract Powder 'Vaccinium Myrtillus' Bilberry is a cousin to the more common Blueberry or huckleberry grown the US and Canada. Bilberries are not cultivated, but are grown and picked in the wild predominately in the Scandanavian peninsula, Finland and Denmark. Beyond its general use in making delicious desserts, it is known in the product development world as an ingredient that has extremely strong antioxidant properties and may have beneficial effects on the capillaries. In Japan, this ingredient is considered to be a key component that is beneficial in evening out skin tone, and is found predominately in Japanese whitening lines (culturally, the ability to help give Asian skin a more porcelain appearance is desired). Here in this formula it is used to also help even out skin tone and reduce redness. Algae Extract - Bladderwrack Algae is a sea weed found in many parts of the world – there are thousands of different species. Bladderwrack is a seaweed that is found off the northern coast of Brittany(a unique ecosystem as it is where the Atlantic and Pacific oceans meet), and is an effective antioxidant and has water binding properties for the skin. This naturally occurring renewable raw material has been used for centuries in European spas (as wraps, masks) to improve the texture and appearance of the skin. I just wish it had a more appealing name. Willow Bark Extract As the name indicates, it is the extract from the bark of the willow tree, found predominately in Eastern US and Canada. First used by Native Americans as an analgesic, when chewed, it provided pain relief. The company Bayer in the late 1800s took that concept to make 'Acytl Salicylic acid' i.e. Asprin. But I digress…willow bark extract for the purpose of this formula is the natural, and more gentle, form of Salicylic acid. Salicylic acid is used in many acne preparations as it lowers the pH of the environment creating to help prevent the proliferation of bacteria which commonly cause acne. Here, it is used at a level, and in a form that is gentle for the skin, but does help to lower the pH and may be why some people experience a mild exfoliation when using the product, like a mini facial. There is Salicylic Acid in this formula as well, but at a very low level as it is “boosted” by using the natural gentler extract. White Tea 'Camellia Sinensis' White tea is the minimally processed buds and leaves of green tea – and has therefore a higher more potent percentage of antioxidants. This extract also contains caffeine, which is known to be soothing to the skin and helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Apple 'Pyrus Malus' The apple, native more temperate climates in Canada, USA and Western Europe has long been known for its antioxidant properties. Malic acid as part of this extract has been reported help reduce skin inflammation and help even out skin tone and texture. Yeast Extract Yeast is a good source of Betaglucan which is considered a very good antioxidant. It has also been found to support improved skin texture and tone and for that reason, it is often found in high-end eye cream products. I just figured that people would want the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and the lessening the appearance of dark circles/ uneven pigmentation, not just for their eye area, but for the whole face. I'm pragmatic that way. Nettle Plant 'Urtica Dioca' Derived from the Stinging nettle plant – native to western Europe, predominately Austria, Germany, Swizerland, has been used historically as a topical anti-inflammatory ingredient to help with skin irritations, but more importantly for this formula it is a fantastic ingredient that helps reduce puffiness. Glycerin Is an ingredient that helps to balance or maintain moisture levels. It is commonly derived from oils or created as a by-product of soap production. The glycerine used in this product is vegetable based, that is derived from palm oils. Glycerin is actually part of the skin’s own natural lipid structure. As a moisturizing ingredient, it helps the skin to attract and retain its own natural moisture while leaving it feeling soft. This ingredient has a great capacity to attract moisture from the air therefore, rather than sitting on top of the skin, glycerine is absorbed readily thereby softening the skin while not leaving it feeling greasy. Kola Nut Cola Nitida/Alba Is a nut/seed native to North Coast of Africa. A cousin to the coffee bean, this nut contains a much higher amount of natural Caffeine. Contrary to when you ingest caffeine when drinking coffee, caffeine in skin preparations actually soothes the skin and helps to minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles with out the bothersome aspect of keeping you up at night. Co-enzyme Q10 'Ubiquinone' The new "magic ingredient" in the late 1990's has had entire product lines designed around it. An enzyme has 2 parts: a protein and another part that is either a vitamin or a mineral. When that second part is a vitamin, it is called a Co-enzyme. Co-enzyme Q10 has a similar structure to Vitamin K (which is the more recent "it" vitamin) but is much more stable. What is special about co-enzymes is that it can act as a catalyst in various chemical reactions – so it functions in a similar way to retinol, in that it is a small molecule that is easily absorbed into the skin and is a powerful antioxidant and helps in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles when applied topically. Cucumber Fruit Extract 'Cucumis Sativus' Cucumber extract has been used for centuries to refresh and tone the skin after the removal of makeup. It has been shown to offer moisture-regulating and softening properties and imparts a crisp, fresh scent to the formulation. Arnica Montana Flower Oil This flower is indigenous to the mountainous regions of Central Europe. This ingredient has long been used in Europe for the treatment of skin abrasions. One of Arnic’s primary components: Helenalin – also has a strong anti-edemic (anti-swelling) effect, which is why it has been used historically to help reduce bruising and swelling. In this formula, it helps with the tone and elasticity of the skin. Panthenol Is the provitamin of B5. It is an emollient viscous liquid that is a humectant (has water binding capabilities for the skin) and helps with water retention which in turn helps the skin to attract and retain its own natural moisture. Chlorophyllin - Copper Complex A form of natural chlorophyll that is rich in anti-oxidants and has anit-inflammatory characteristics which are good for the skin. It also imparts a green colour to the formula which was intentional. Green blocks red – and so it helps even out visually any uneven skin colour/blotchiness – and is done so using a natural ingredient instead of the typically used dyes. Magnesium, Zinc and Manganese Salts Magnesium, Zinc and Manganese salts are minerals that individually have great skin benefits, but in combination with sodium play a major role in boosting enzyme reactions essential in cell renewal to reduce redness and improve the tone and texture of skin. This is the type of thinking behind using of the 'dead sea' salts in some formulations. Vitamin A 'Retinyl Palmitate' There is a great amount of research indicating that Vitamin A is an excellent antioxidant and skin cell regulator. When on the skin, the retinyl is converted to retinol – a substance that entire products have been built around as the ultimate wrinkle reducer. It is in this formulation to also help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, but is just one of the components doing the work. Bulgarian Rose Extract Commercially grown in a precious handful of Eastern European regions, Bulgarian rose oil has been used for thousands of years as an antiseptic, astringent and clarifying agent. It reduces redness and puffiness, and helps to balance the skin's natural oil production. It also has excellent hydrating and emollient properties. If you’ve ever been smitten by a dozen roses, it’s worth noting 4,000 kilograms of flowers will only yield 1 litre of rose oil (or 30 roses to yield one drop). Jojoba Seed Oil Native to the Sonora Desert of North America, jojoba works as a lubricant and humectant in our cleanser. How can it be good for very oily and very dry skin at the same time? The product is aloe based, and does not contain heavy oils and waxes – so it provides moisture without leaving a heavy residue which is good for people with oily skin. Yet at the same time it contains many moisturizing, light-weight components that provide people with dry skin with as much moisture as they need. That is why all skin types can benefit all year round. Finally, you do not need to modify based on time of year, climate, diet, age, or skin type. Can I use this around my eyes? Absolutely. The same benefits of evening out skin tone and lessening the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles are just as desirable around the eye area. Many of the key ingredients such as caffeine (from kola nut), yeast extract, apple and cucumber extracts that are commonly found in high end eye creams are part of this formula as well. Therefore there is no need for a second eye product. I'm feeling a tingling, tightening sensation… is that normal? Perfectly normal, and on purpose. You no longer need to use a toner. This formula contains many ingredients to improve tone and texture. Algae, apple fruit extract, arginine, co-enzyme Q10, copper gluconate – just to name a few, all help with tone and tightening. This refreshing sensation may also be a result of the aloe and witch hazel. Is there anything special I should wash my face with before using it? A good facial cleanser that removes all makeup and does not leave any residue will work well with this product. I’m getting exfoliation, like an eraser. What does that mean? Approx 20% of people will experience mild exfoliation when first using the product. As the directions for use indicates, simply take a warm wet face cloth and remove the excess skin using gentle circular motions. It is the equivalent to a mild “mini-peel”. Your skin will look fantastic, and be ready to absorb the cream upon next application. The exfoliation should dissipate with further use. Why is it green? This was intentional. Any make-up artist will tell you green blocks red. So in addition to ingredients like Bilberry that work to help reduce skin redness over time, a slight green tint helps to block any visual redness. But unlike other products, there are no artificial dyes or colouring agents used. The green colour results from the addition of Chlorophyll (the natural component that makes vegetation green) which is also loaded with valuable vitamins and minerals that are good for the skin. Does it contain sunscreen? No, it does not. The light weight feel of the product in addition to the quick rate of absorption into the skin would have been adversely affected by the addition of a chemical sunscreen. I also wanted to give consumers a choice. Can I use a sunscreen with it? Sure, simply apply it on top of this product. A lot of companies list tonnes of beneficial ingredients but there's usually not a lot in the product. How does Mereadesso compare? Having been involved with the formulation of hundreds of products, I can tell you that the key functional ingredients in this formula are anywhere from 10 to 100 times in concentration to what is normally found in like category products. Also, the combination is extremely unique. Usually, most other lines are about the “one magic ingredient” not a potent combination of over 26 key functional ingredients that is found in the Face & Neck Toning Gel. The proof is also in how quickly consumers notice an improvement in their skin. Most report noticing a “wow” after 6-10 applications – that’s in 3-5 days when using morning and night. The average time for other like products on the market to claim a noticeable difference is anywhere from 4 to 16 weeks! It feels lighter than most other moisturizing creams. Why is the texture different? The product is aloe based, and does not contain any heavy waxes which might feel nice but actually do not help to moisturize your skin. These waxes also often impede the absorption of other key ingredients. How well does make-up apply on top? Fantastically! Currently this product is being tested by our nation’s top make-up artists who have reported that not only does the makeup go on smoother and with less irregularity (important for High Definition TV) but that it also lasts longer and colours stay truer longer – requiring less touch-ups. Quick tip – for a pick me up in the middle of the day – you can apply Face & Neck toning gel right on top of your make-up – it brightens the face without disturbing make-up application. Is it good for young people as well? Absolutely, it is good for all ages. With all the antioxidants, vitamins and minerals – your skin will take from it what it needs – and trust me, the younger you are, the more likely you need it to protect your skin for the future from all that partying you might be doing now! Can I use it day and night? Absolutely, and I highly recommend it. The reason may other lines have day vs night creams is that they separate the type of ingredients your skin absorbs more readily during the day and night into different products. By putting all the ingredients together that your skin will benefit from at different metabolic rates (when the body is or is not at rest) – your skin will take from it what it needs regardless of the time of day. Many consumers who do extensive travelling to radically different climates have shared with me unbelievable stories of how they haven’t had the customary problem skin while travelling and only had to take 1 product with them! I am using medicated skin care products – can I use your cream? If the medicated product used is over the counter (i.e. not needing a prescription) then most customers find that if they use their OTC toner or cleanser first and the Face and Neck Toning Gel second, it actually improves the effect. If you are at all concerned or are using a product prescribed by a dermatologist/doctor, then please consult your physician before using any other product in combination (not just Mereadesso Woman product line). With regular use both day and night, the 50 mL/1.7 Fl.oz should last most consumers 3-4 months (which is more than commonly found with other products on the market that last typically 6-8 weeks). Over time, as your skin improves, we find that consumers need and use less, so that it should start to last longer. Also, it does not contain any foaming ingredients, which act like detergents, and do nothing but dry out your skin (found in many “oily” skin cleansers). This formula is perfectly balanced, and its function is to effectively remove makeup and any excess oil, dirt etc, and leave it feeling clean and refreshed. Can I use this around my eyes? Absolutely. Many of the ingredients that are found in strictly “eye make-up removers” have been included here. Using the product with the provided cloth makes removal gentle and easy. As with any product that is to be used around the eye area, care should always be taken to not get product in your eyes. How should the cloth be used near my eyes? I’m worried about too much pulling The cloth is made from a light weight micro-fibre material and is gentler on the skin than a cotton pad. So if you are comfortable using a cotton ball/pad, then this is a much better option for you. One tip is to dampen the cloth with water, gently blot the damp cloth over your eye make-up, apply the Face + Neck Cleanser and then remove with the cloth. This helps to “soften up” without smudging, any hard to remove eye-liners, mascaras – and will therefore make removal more efficient and easier. I have very sensitive skin, prone to breakouts. Can I use your cleanser? Many of our sensitive skin customers have had great success with our Face + Neck Cleanser, since it does not contain many of the heavy oils or waxes that can be irritating. Also, the pH of the formula is slightly acidic which will help with any acne-prone customers. Ingredients such as the Rose Damascena Flower oil, Vitamin E, Aloe, Cucumber extract, and Jojoba seed oil are all extremely beneficial and calming to sensitive skin. Why is it non-foaming? Foaming agents such as Sodium Laureth Sulfate (commonly found in cleansers) really do not add any benefit to the skin, they are simply detergents. In fact, they are too harsh and often dry out the skin. Some people have a false perception that if it is foaming, then it’s cleaning. The best way to remove the oil, makeup and environmental residue on your skin is to use light weight, nourishing oils (like Vitamin E, Jojoba and Rose Oil) that clean the skin, but do not leave your skin oily and are loaded with other benefits. How can it be considered a mask? I thought a mask had to be left on the face to have any effect. There are 3 basic types of masks:

The key is the combination of formula, which contains light weight nourishing oils but does not leave your skin oily, and the magic of the cloth which provides the exfoliation part. This specially designed cloth is so soft that it will not scratch your skin, and by doing the small circular motions on your skin, it not only cleans your skin and removes make-up but also effectively gently “buffs” it. Do you suggest I use this twice a day, or just at night to remove make-up? Most definitely use twice a day – as this product is more than just a make-up remover – it is a toner and mask as well. Also, your body at rest is when it works to remove toxins from your system. Many of these are expelled through the pores – so it is always a great idea to clean your face every morning. Also, following cleansing, apply the Mèreadesso Woman Face + Neck Toning Gel to leave a perfectly primed pallet for applying makeup. How long will this last me?

How is it a body "toning" cream? How does it work? Algae extracts, arginine and the aloe itself have long been used in high end European spas to help tone the skin. These are the key ingredients in this product that are doing the work. Does it help with cellulite? It can definitely help. Arginine and algae extracts are the key ingredients that help to improve the localized circulation and toning to the area. Improving circulation helps your body to break apart the localized deposits. How quickly this works, is very consumer dependant. Does it help with stretch marks? Yes it can. Stretch marks are essentially scar tissue that has resulted from an area stretching quickly over time – such as during pregnancy. The key again is to help improve blood circulation to the area so that your own body will break them down over time. The main ingredients helping this process in the formula are: vitamin E, arginine, algae extract, arnica and the aloe. Some consumers have reported that when using this product on their stretch marks which are brown in colour initially, they start to brighten for a time and then slowly fade. The amount of time required before a customer sees a difference is very individual – it depends on how recent and extensive the marks are, their ethnicity and skin type. Why am I only getting a small amount out of the pump? This was intentional. Due to the light weight texture, and high "spreadability" factor – a very little goes a long way. It is created differently than other body moisturizers on the market. Most consumers find that a couple of pumps per key area are sufficient. If too much is applied, it may leave the skin feeling slightly tacky or sticky. Less is actually more in this case! I love the scent but it goes away. Why is that? This was also intentional. I wanted to create a sophisticated fragrance that has mood elevating properties but I also wanted it to dissipate quickly so that it would not compete with your personal fragrance choice. I have always found it frustrating to have body care products that are so heavily scented that you end up smelling like a giant apricot all day – even though I might like the smell of apricots (initially). How long will this last me? As an all over body moisturizer, using it once per day the 120mL/4oz should last a consumer 6-8 weeks. If using it as a “targeted” product – on certain problem areas, then clearly much longer. Also, as stated before, the longer you use the product, the better your skin gets, the less you need. Also, in climates that are warmer – and during the summer months the product would also last longer for the average consumer.
